FootyForge
FootyForge Has Been Released
Published 4 May 2026
FootyForge is live. It is the first HamForge product to make it out of the idea pile and onto its own domain.
What shipped
The first version is an AFL word game built around player names. There is a daily jumble, endless play, team pages, archives and shareable results. It is not a huge product, but it is enough to use properly.
Why this was first
I wanted the first HamForge release to be something people could understand without a walkthrough. FootyForge fit that. You get a scrambled AFL player name, use the clue, solve it and move on.
It also gave me a useful set of problems to work through: daily content, clean URLs, archive pages, team pages, sharing and making sure the game still worked on a phone.
What comes next
The plan from here is pretty simple. Keep improving the daily game, add useful pages around the players and clubs, and give people more reasons to discover and come back to FootyForge.
It is good to have something live. Bugs are easier to see. Rough edges are harder to ignore. And the next product is easier to think about when the first one is already in the world.
